About
Building agent-native software in public.
Sandcastle Labs is a small studio building agent-native software in public. Four or five products a year, each one a real attempt to solve a concrete business problem with AI enhancing the people doing the work.
Half of what we do is build. The other half is explore what is actually changing in how software gets built and sold. We share both as we go: what we tried, what broke, what surprised us. The world is changing fast, and that exploration is the work.
We started because we wanted to do this work ourselves, and because the way most companies are using AI right now is missing the point.
What we believe
-
AI should enhance the people doing the work.
The interesting opportunity is small teams using AI to ship things bigger companies cannot. Not bigger companies using AI to need fewer small teams.
-
Half the work is exploring what is actually changing.
The way software gets built and sold is shifting under us. We treat that exploration as a deliverable, not a side effect.
-
Small by design. Built to stay small.
No VC. No 60-hour weeks. The studio is sized to do good work, not to grow into the kind of business it is critiquing.
-
Build in public, but make it real.
Building in public is only useful if the thing you're building is real. We ship products, run them, and write about what actually happens.
-
Specificity over generality.
Specific decisions, specific tools, specific numbers. Generic AI talk is noise. We try to be useful.
-
Momentum over perfection.
Slow, compounding work beats fast, scattered work. We move at the pace that lets us keep going.
